Facing a Maryland Arrest Warrant?
Greenbelt Criminal Defense Attorneys

Free Consultation: (301) 474-5550

Is there a warrant out for your arrest? Do you dispute the grounds for the warrant? Are you hoping to be released on your own recognizance?

Based in Greenbelt, Maryland, the Law Offices of Richard P. Arnold represents clients statewide in fighting arrest warrants and search warrants issued by state or federal courts. We have offices in Upper Marlboro, Rockville, and Annapolis to serve our clients in these times when immediate action is required. Our firm provides criminal defense against all charges.

The Maryland Arrest Warrant

When you are suspected of a crime, either you will receive a court summons to appear on your own, or a warrant will be issued for your arrest. Call the law offices of Richard P. Arnold at the first indication that a warrant has been issued. His office can take action in the appropriate circumstance to prevent you and your family from being inconvenienced by a 2 am knock on the door by law enforcement.

“What if I am arrested?”

If you are taken into custody, Richard P. Arnold can make the appropriate pleadings with the court to avoid spending time in jail. When bond is set by the court, you can secure your pre-trial release by putting up a house or other real estate as collateral, or we can arrange for a bail bondsman to provide a surety bond (“bail bond”) on your behalf.

The commissioner who reviews your background at the time of your arrest has the authority in most instances to release you on your personal recognicense, meaning that you will not have to put up money or property to regain your freedom. This is more likely if you have “good credit” with the court – a history of always making your court appearances. A previous failure to appear probably means you will most likely need to post bond for your release. Ironically, if you have never been arrested before, you may have to post bond as well.

“What if I have a warrant for my arrest?”

If there is an open warrant for your arrest, Law Offices of Richard P. Arnold can represent you in turning yourself in. We will attempt to get the warrant stricken so that you can appear in court without having to be arrested. If the court cancels the warrant, you will not be taken into custody but given a court date.

We can also challenge a warrant from another state under extradition law. You must be provided a court hearing before you can be extradited to custody in another jurisdiction.

Contact the Maryland arrest warrant lawyers of Law Offices of Richard P. Arnold to protect your rights and seek to avoid jail time. We understand the urgent nature of a warrant, and are available day or night to help.
